Well, we all know that judging people based on their appearance is wrong but most of us do this in our daily lives. Tyler Bridges, wanted to prove that after a simple haircut or shave, homeless people are not in anyway different from everyone else. So, he created a team of hairstylists and filmmakers to create a short video for YouTube. The video, titled ‘What’s The Difference‘, was published with the collaboration of Union Rescue Mission in Los Angeles.
As you can guess, the video featured several homeless men who could use a little trim, by getting a haircut and a shave. Actually, this short clip achieved its purpose: to show that there isn’t a whole lot of difference between a homeless person and everyone else. According to Bridges, sometimes our quick judgement can change the way we interact with people.
‘There are over 600,000 people experiencing homelessness in the United States. The underlying message of this video is that we make judgments about people really quickly and often let the differences we see define the way we interact with people. We wanted to show people that they really aren’t all that different – that they’re just like you and me.’, Bridges explained to The Huffington Post.
The video ends with a message encouraging viewers to ‘get involved with your local shelter or mission’ and pointing to a directory for rescue missions across the country.
