Andreas Seppi on Friday beat the 17-time Grand Slam Champion, Roger Federer, eliminating him from proceeding to the Australian Opens Semi-Final which he had always featured in for over a dozen years until now.
30-year-old Seppi who had never won the 10 previous games with the iconic tennis star, won the eliminating game 6-4, 7-6(5), 4-6, 7-6(5) due to some unusual errors such as nine double-faults especially the one to surrender a mini break in the the fourth-set tiebreaker, according to NBC Sports.
Tennis icon, Federer had won the Australian title 4 times, and had reached the semi-finals every year since winning his first championship in 2004. Seppi who was in high spirits after defeating Federer said: “I had to believe that I could win.” He continued saying “I was just trying to stay relaxed and just focusing on every shot and to breathe calm and don’t get nervous.”……”I think I did pretty well. Very well, I’m very happy I could manage my emotions.”
