Singer Taylor Swift’s brand-new hairdo which she debuted at Grammy Awards on Monday evening caused a major uproar in the world of social media as users relished the opportunity to put their creativity to the test as they gave the her new fringed bob the meme treatment.
Twitter went haywire with all variety of hilarious comparisons as fans likened the 26-year-old Taylor’s neat crop to that of He-Man, Charlie and The Chocolate Factory’s Violet Beauregarde and Anna Wintour, among others.
The chart-topper, who went home with three awards, was the subject of a mass Photoshopping spree as Twitter and Instagram users rushed to publish their comparison imagery first.
She was compared a grab of He-Man, who sports a blonde helmet-style, by one Spanish user while she appeared to be a convincing lookalike of Roald Dahl’s bubblegum-loving teen in another viral post. One meme-based account searched deep into the archives to share an image of a man rocking a periodic hairstyle similar to Taylor’s from Starburst’s 2007 commercial.
While Taylor’s fresh short crop was the centre of attention among internet users, others still went on to poke fun at her bold choice of outfit. The pop sensation bared her midriff and lean legs in a two-piece which comprised skimpy red tube top and bright pink satin skirt which featured a thigh-high split by Atelier Versace.
One sharp-eyed user likened her outfit to children’s cartoon character Dora the Explorer who sports a blunt fringed bob and red and pink separates.
Although Taylor’s red-carpet look garnered varying and hilarious opinions one thing was undeniable, she was one of the night’s shining stars as she managed to clinch three accolades – Album of the Year and Best Pop Vocal Album for 1989 and Best Music Video for star-studded Bad Blood.
