Empire actress and Emmy Award nominee, Taraji P. Henson says history has been made with two African American actresses being nominated for lead actress. The Empire star and Viola Davis were both nominated for ‘Lead Actress in a Drama’ in the recently announced Emmy Awards nomination list!
In a statement to Los Angeles Times, the actress said:
“History has already been made with two African American actresses being nominated.” She further stated:
“The both of us being nominated for lead actress means a great deal to me. That puts more importance on what’s happened.”
The actress has been in the movie industry for over ten years and this is a recognition that she rightfully deserves.
She however expressed disappointment over the fact that her co-star, Terrence Howard and the “Empire” drama series, did not receive any nod from the Emmy’s!
The award show would be aired on Fox on the 30th of September, 2015!
