Multiple award winning filmmaker, Daniel Ademinokan is about to take New York City by storm with his new film WHEN IS IT ENOUGH. This film is based on an article written by movie star and activist, Stella Damasus. “When I read this article that Stella wrote, I was so touched because it was based on a true story of her friend. It immediately struck a chord in my heart because I could identify with the story completely because of the kind of childhood I had”, Daniel said. Stella Damasus stars in this film with Gina Castel and Onwura Agility.
WHEN IS IT ENOUGH is the story of Amaka who was caught up in a marriage where her husband was extremely violent and would beat her to a pulp at the slightest provocation. Amaka’s pleas to be rescued by the Nigerian Police, the church and even her family fell on deaf ears because she was defined as her husband’s ‘property’, even by her own mother. All her efforts to run away prove abortive as the people she ran to for rescue and redemption betrayed her trust.
This story explores the ills of the African society as regards domestic violence and brings to light the failures from the family, police, society and religious bodies in dealing with this problem in Africa.
“It is my desire that people will see this film and conversations will start again, not just to state that the problem still exists…but to proffer solutions and brainstorm on ways to curb the problem and make sure justice is served”.
Mr Ademinokan is working in conjunction with the Stella Damasus Arts Foundation and Project Alert Nigeria to bring an end to this menace in Nigeria.
