It’s been just over a week after Eddie Redmayne triumphed at the Oscars, when the talented British actor won his first Academy Award for his leading role in ‘The Theory of Everything‘.
But it seems that Redmayne is ready to astound us once again, as the first pictures of ‘The Danish Girl’ have already come out. In the upcoming movie, the 33-year-old plays the role of a transsexual Danish artist, named Lili Elbe. Redmayne looked unrecognizable and as he stated to Britain’s Telegraph back in January, this is another amazing role he will be portraying:
‘It is an extraordinary love story, there’s extraordinary bravery and brilliant people that I’ve met, so I’m hoping it will be an interesting experience.’
Lili Elbe was an early 20th century Danish painter who was born a man and was considered to be one of the first to receive a sex-change operation. The story was the basis for David Ebershoff’s 2001 novel, which the film is based on. The movie, directed by ‘The King’s Speech‘ director Tom Hooper, is expected to hit the theaters in 2016.
