Multiple award-winning Nollywood filmmaker, Kunle Afolayan, who recently received the received the Sun Magazine’s Nollywood Man of the Year award is going places with his epic movie, October 1, as he just landed an exciting distribution deal with Netflix, one of the biggest and most popular on-demand online streaming media platform.
Ecstatic Afolayan in an interview with The Nation in Lagos Nigeria said of the deal: “I am happy and delighted to announce that October 1 has gotten a deal with Netflix. Netflix covers the whole of Europe and America. That means the film will be exposed to the word. It is a distribution deal. Netflix is an SVOD platform, an online platform that you can watch on your television. Their application is everywhere. They are one of the most recognised SVOD platforms around the word.”
The New York Film Academy graduate continued: “It is going to the Pan African Film Festival in Los Angeles which I should be attending in the first week of February. It has also been selected for the Luxor Film Festival in Egypt. I am also going to be attending that.”
October 1 received several nominations (13) in several top Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) categories including, Best Movie (Drama), Best Art Director, Best Actress and Best Cinematographer and featured veteran broadcaster, Sadiq Daba, Kunle Afolayan, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Kehinde Bankole, and a host of other stars.
