Late last month, we brought you the news on Jackie Chan’s embarrassment over the announcement of his son’s drug charges. A few days ago, the son of the famous Chinese Actor pleaded guilty in a Beijing court to providing an abode for drug users and dealings.
32-year-old, Jaycee Chan was sentenced to a 6 months imprisonment following the implementation of strict restraint on illegal drugs by the police in the Chinese capital. Jaycee Chan was also ordered to pay a fine of 2,000 yuan (about $320).
In August, police arrested Chan, Taiwanese movie star Ko Kai and several others in the first’s apartment. Both Chan and Ko tested positive to marijuana, and police found more than 100 grams of marijuana in Chan’s house.
As Jaycee Chan stated in the courtroom: “I violated the law. I deserve to be punished. When I return to society, I won’t do it again“, in footage that was broadcasted on television. Although, the sentence for such charges can reach up to 3 years in prison, the court showed leniency in appreciation of Chan’s voluntary confession.
Quite ironically his father and Hollywood star, Jackie Chan was named an anti-drug ambassador in 2009 and besides that he is also considered a powerful man in China. However, the actor has said that he did not use his connections to interfere with the case and he is also optimistic and hopeful that his son will eventually become an anti-drug ambassador himself, in the future.
It is worth to mention that Chinese police have made more than 7,800 arrests since last summer in Beijing over illegal drug use.
