Love is such a beautiful thing; Celine Dion has decided to stay by her husband’s side as he battles throat cancer.
According to reports from People, Celine Dion has decided to stay strong for her husband, René Angélil, as he battles throat cancer. The singer will return to her Las Vegas stage on Thursday, to resume her Caesars Palace residency.
Speaking to her fans, the 47-year-old Dion told USA today: “I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong, I love singing for people, but I have priorities, People reported. But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.”
She added that when she talks to her husband, she says: ‘You’re scared? I understand. Talk to me about it’ … And René says to me, ‘I want to die in your arms.’ Okay, fine, I’ll be there, you’ll die in my arms.”
“We have asked [doctors] many times, how long does he have, three weeks, three months? René wants to know,” Dion told the newspaper. “But they say they don’t know.”
She continued that she’ll keep a brave face until the end. “You can have your shaking knees at the end, but when someone you love falls and needs help, it’s not time to cry,” she said. “Afterwards, sure. But not yet.”
Angélil, 73, has battled three bouts of cancer and is currently living at their Las Vegas home. The couple have been married for about 20 years and have three children together, René-Charles, 14, and 4-year-old twins Nelson and Eddy.
