Earlier in the week, the news that the 6000 pearl-encrusted $150,000 Calvin Klein dress worn by Lupita Nyong’o for the 2015 Oscars was stolen became a huge media buzz. Click here if you missed it! According to CNN however, the police may have recovered the missing dress worn by the Oscar-winning actress to the Academy Awards after authorities received a tip on Friday and later found the dress in an abandoned bathroom on the second floor of the same London Hotel, apparently returned by the thief who stole it.
But, another interesting twist to this news came up, as reported by TMZ, when a source directly linked to the Women’s Creative Director of Calvin Klein, Francisco Costa, claimed that Calvin Klein never said the dress was ‘real’ or ‘fake’ saying: “Did anyone ever say they were real from Calvin Klein? I always assumed everyone knew they were fake, but I guess not. Do they really make dresses out of real jewels since Cleopatra died?”
The Los Angeles sheriff’s department is currently working with Calvin Klein to confirm if the dress they are currently in possession of is the real one that was custom-made for the actress.
