The Talk co-host, Aisha Tyler, and her husband Jeff Tietjens are getting divorced after 20 years of marriage.
The couple, who met while in college, got married in 1994 and they separated back in January 2015.
Jeff filed the divorce documents this month in the Los Angeles Superior Court and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The estranged spouses have been separated for more than a year, having split in January of 2015. It’s unclear why Tietjens has just filed for divorce this month. His petition cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup.
According to TMZ, Tietjens did not request spousal support, but reserved the right to do so in the future, reports TMZ. Tyler’s rep tells the outlet that she and Tietjens intend to stay friends. Their relationship dates back more than two decades.
Tyler and Tietjens were college sweethearts, and they got married in 1994. And while they have no children, she has openly discussed her struggle to conceive on “The Talk.” The actress, however, made no mention of a divorce on the show prior to Tietjen’s filing.
The news comes just a few weeks after Tyler and her fellow “Talk” co-hosts scored a nomination for the upcoming Daytime Emmys. In addition to her talk show duties, the star also continues to do her voice role on “Archer,” and has been guest-starring on “Criminal Minds” this season in a recurring role. Tyler also recently launched a Kickstarter fundraiser for a proposed movie she wants to direct.
Nearly $74,000 of a $150,000 goal has already been raised.
