Host nation for the African Nations Cup, Equatorial Guinea that played against Burkina Faso in the Group A match on Wednesday were locked in a stalemate. The final minute of the finishing session of the game was locked in a fruitless 0 – 0 draw. Both teams had slogged it out intensely to produce a last-minute goal but the intensifying looks of the players with the mounting pressure to change the last moments of the game did not yield a fruitful result.
As reported on BBC, Burkina Faso coach Paul Put said: “We had chances, but the same problem, finishing. Unfortunately, we cannot score and that’s the problem.” The result is a fatal one for the Burkina Faso team as this means they will not be able to make it to the quarterfinal round, while the host still has another qualifying round with Gabon this Sunday to tally, with the Burkinabe facing a must-win clash against Congo-Brazzaville.
