This hair show featured several pioneers in the natural hair industry, which included Asha Mandella (The world Guinness book of record holder for the longest dreads), Dr Akua, and Isis Brantley, who all served as judges for this event.
One of the highlight of the day featured the “Little Miss Happy headed pageant”, with girls ranging from ages 5 through 12. These young and beautiful girls had various hairstyle including locks, twists, cornrows, and the signature afro-style.
The show started around 10am, and ended at 8pm; and towards the end of the day, a fabulous runway show by “Kachy designs” further added a colorful spotlight to the event, as she was able to display several sophisticated and beautiful designs of hers.

This show was truly what Houston needed. I pray to God they will return next year. I had fun on top of fun and learned soooo much! I had guests from out of town for the holidays and decided to take them out for a treat and boy am I glad I did. They are still talking about how nice the people were. And the Soul Sister vendor was very nice. Thank you Nzuri organizers.
